It’s the question I get asked more than any other.
“How can healing work if you’re not in the room with me?”
I understand the scepticism. Truly. If you’ve never experienced distance Reiki healing, the whole idea sounds impossible. We’re taught that for something to affect us, it has to physically touch us. That healing requires hands, presence, proximity.
But energy doesn’t work like that. And once you’ve felt it, really felt it, you stop needing the explanation, because the experience speaks for itself.
Still, you deserve an answer. So let me share what I know, not from a textbook, but from my training and from what people who receive distance Reiki consistently report.
Distance Reiki is an energy healing session conducted remotely, the practitioner and the client are in different locations, often different cities or even countries. The healing works exactly as it would in person, because the energy being channelled isn’t limited by physical space.
In Angelic Reiki, distance sessions usually take place via Zoom. You lie down somewhere comfortable in your own home, we connect briefly by video, and then the healing begins. For the next thirty to forty minutes, the angelic healing energy works directly with your energy field, guided entirely by the angels, not by me.
The distance changes nothing about the quality or depth of the healing. If anything, many people report finding it easier to relax in their own space, which allows the session to go deeper.
This is the part where people expect me to say something vague and mystical. I’m not going to do that.
Distance healing works on a principle that’s been understood for thousands of years and is now being explored by modern physics: that everything is connected at an energetic level. In Reiki, this is sometimes explained through the Hermetic principle of similarity, the idea that we are all part of one unified energy field, and that connection doesn’t require proximity.
Think of it this way. You’ve almost certainly had the experience of thinking about someone just before they call you. Or feeling the mood of a room the moment you walk into it. Or knowing that something is wrong with someone you love, even when they haven’t told you. These aren’t coincidences, they’re examples of the energetic connections that exist between all living things.
Distance Reiki works with that same connection, but intentionally. As a practitioner, I hold the space and invoke the healing energy. The angels, the intelligence guiding the session, don’t need a physical address. They work with your energy field directly, wherever you are.
I know this can sound abstract. But here’s what practitioners consistently find: the people who are most sceptical before their first session are often the ones most moved by it afterwards. Not because anyone convinces them of anything, but because they feel something they can’t explain away.
Every person’s experience is different, and I always say that whatever you feel, or don’t feel, is exactly right.
That said, there are common threads. During a distance Reiki session, people often describe warmth spreading through the body, even though no one is touching them. A tingling sensation, particularly in the hands, feet, or crown of the head. Waves of deep relaxation, the kind where your body feels heavy and held. Emotional release, tears, laughter, or a quiet sense of relief. Colours, images, or impressions appearing behind closed eyes. And sometimes, simply falling asleep, which is perfectly fine. The healing works whether you’re conscious of it or not.
Afterwards, people commonly report feeling lighter, clearer, and more settled in themselves. Some notice shifts immediately. For others, the changes unfold over the following days, better sleep, a calmer mind, old tensions softening, emotions that had been stuck beginning to move.
I could answer this with research references and theory. But let me share what people consistently report.
People report releasing grief they’d been carrying for years, in a single session, from their own living room, hundreds of miles from their practitioner. Recipients describe their whole body softening as the energy moves through them, shifting from tension into something unguarded and open. Others have shared that after a distance session, they slept properly for the first time in months.
Across the Angelic Reiki community, the feedback is remarkably consistent: distance healing works, deeply and profoundly. But I also believe you shouldn’t take anyone’s word for it. The only way to truly know is to experience it yourself.
What I will say is this: distance Reiki isn’t a watered-down version of in-person healing. It isn’t a compromise or a second-best option. It’s the same healing, delivered in a way that allows you to receive it in your most comfortable, safe environment. And for many people, that makes it more powerful, not less.
It’s important to be clear about this. Distance Reiki is a complementary wellness practice. It’s not a medical treatment, and it’s not a substitute for professional healthcare, physical or mental.
What it is, in my experience, is a deeply supportive tool for people who are navigating stress, emotional heaviness, life transitions, physical tension, or simply a feeling of being disconnected from themselves. It works beautifully alongside other forms of care, including therapy, yoga, and medical treatment.
I always encourage clients to continue with whatever professional support they have in place. Reiki doesn’t replace those things, it works with them, often helping you get more from the other practices in your life.
If you’re thinking about trying it, here’s what helps:
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Lying on your bed or sofa with a blanket is ideal. Have water nearby, you’ll want to drink plenty afterwards. Set an intention if you’d like to, but don’t overthink it. Something simple like “I’m open to receiving what I need” is enough. Turn off notifications on your phone. Give yourself time afterwards, don’t rush straight back into the demands of the day.
That’s it. You don’t need to believe in angels, understand energy healing, or have any experience at all. You just need to be willing to lie still and let something happen.
If something in this post has stirred your curiosity, I’d encourage you to trust that. Curiosity is often the beginning of something important.
